Slate is a natural product with a folded, parallel sedimentary structure. This structure allows for good cleavage, allowing relatively thin panels to be produced. The external shape of the roof and wall slate is obtained by cutting it to size.
The surface, thickness and edges therefore always have irregularities. This means that every slate is always different
These slate panels are attached to facades and roofs using slate nails on wooden substructures. To do this, the slate plates are perforated (not drilled). The upper side of the hole is relatively even, the lower side is always slightly broken due to the different structure of the slate.
